IMTS Ltd has been writing grinding software for over twenty years, predominately for the Automotive, Aerospace, Bearing and Tool Grinding industries. Over the years we have listened carefully to our customers and followed the requirements of the industry. IMTS Grinding Software has always been driven by our customer's needs, this has encouraged a customer-centred approach to software design. test
The software package that IMTS now offers, is the combined result of some of our most challenging projects. Combining techniques developed by ourselves, and also techniques favoured by our customers. Some issues that have been addressed include;
IMTS Grinding Software includes all the standard features one would expect. Including, teach facilities for both the diamond(s) and the part, in-cycle emergency retract, facilities for gap elimination, length positioning and gauging.
For dressing, IMTS Grinding Software includes our Diamond Contact Monitor. This minimises dressing time by increasing the speed of the diamond when the diamond is not physically touching the wheel. This facility alone will dramatically reduce the time taken to form a new wheel. This software package includes as standard, straight, angle, and radius dressing of the wheel. Also included is the Five Element dressing profile. This profile can be modified (through a menu) to produce more complex dressing profiles. The Five Element dressing profile can incorporate the use of two diamonds, and profiles can be saved within the control itself. We can also create any other profiles you may need. All dressing profiles can be viewed on screen as a graphic, to ensure the correct form before actually dressing it into the wheel.
On the grinding cycle side, the system offers multiple diameters using a variety of grinding cycles. The types of grinding cycle include straight plunge, face grind, angle grind, four variations of traverse cycle, three variations of taper grinding, shoulder grinding, and plunge then traverse cycle. Any of the grinding cycles can be employed on any diameter of the part. To change from one grinding cycle to another is only a matter of pressing one button in the menu system, the system will then only allow the parameters for that particular cycle to be modified, thus reducing the chance of errors. To add a diameter on a part literally takes only seconds to set-up through the menu system.
The menu system has been developed with the operator in mind. It is easy to navigate and operate but still provides maximum flexibility. Training requirements to operate this system are minimal, and no previous CNC knowledge is necessary. Full documentation and training manuals are, of course, provided as part of the system. IMTS Ltd. is an officially approved integrator of Fanuc, Siemens and NUM products.
